Centre for marketing in emerging economies (one of the premiere center of IIM Lucknow) is organizing 2 workshops at IIM Lucknow Noida campus.

    Noida 16th Nov 15: Today was the first day of the workshop and it was leaded by two legends of Qualitative & Quantitative marketing research: Prof Russel Belk and Prof Naresh Malhotra. CMEE™s offering these workshops  would be aligned with CMEE’s goal of bringing state-of-the-art consumer understanding methodologies to the Indian market and raising the quality standards in the practice of capturing consumer insight and developing marketing strategy  in India. The objective of Workshop-I is to familiarize participants data collection methods on the digital media along with approaches to analyze the data obtained. The objective of Workshop-II is to provide innovative teaching methodology in a way that will engage students.

    “We are senior faculties and do depth research hence we cannot afford to miss the sessions of Prof Malhotra & Prof Belk. They are living legends, says Dr Keerti Sharma Professor at MDI Gurgaon.

    Prof Belk not only highlighted how to understand consumers in Digital Era but also explained the how the consumers is going to be in robotic and post human era. He also taught a new concept called CYBORG. Cyborg is a being with both organic and bio mechatronic parts. Cyborgs, a part of robotics, has resulted in blurring boundaries between human/ animal/machine, embodied/disembodied and real self/avatar/robot, says Prof Belk.

    Prof Malhotra explained about Social Media as a Domain to Conduct Marketing Research. He used the research methodology by citing myriad examples. E.g. Starbucks can have a blog MIS page and FB page but can replace traditional market research.

The motive of keeping this workshop was to have face to face interaction with these legends and discuss about the problem each industry faces. We have got participants from top B schools and hence the discussions and dialogues is worth sharing.
